Rafael Paulo de Lara Araújo, better known Babby, ( Curitiba , August 12 of 1980 ) is a player of basketball Brazilian who works with Pivot . Currently playing for Mogi das Cruzes Basketball Club . began to practice the sport in the city Itapetininga-SP.
[ editar ] Career in College Basketball U.S. [ edit ]
After completing high school in Brazil , Babby was for the United States to start playing his basketball career at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona . In his first season (2000/2001), averaged 12.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. As a sophomore, increased his average to 17.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, leading the Arizona Western Matadors to a record of 28 wins and 3 losses and putting his team in the top 10 junior college teams in the country. He was voted most valuable player spot and a member of the Second Team NJCAA Ideal.
After junior college career, Babby was transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo , Utah , where, in his third year of college (2002/2003) averaged 12 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. In his senior year, he led Babby statistics BYU with 18.4 points, 10.1 rebounds per game and 43 total steals and 25 blocked shots. On December 6, 2003, scored 32 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in a home game against Oklahoma State in which BYU won 76-71. He concluded his college career with a defeat of his team, the Cougars, to Syracuse , by 80-75, and he scored 24 points and got 12 rebounds.

Babby was the eighth pick of the NFL Draft in 2004 the NBA , taken by Toronto Raptors , becoming the first senior college player drafted that year. As a freshman, Babby has averaged 3.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game on the court. His best score was 14 points against the Sacramento Kings on January 5, 2005. Days later, on January 9, scored again 14 points against the Golden State Warriors .
In the 2005/2006 season, averaged 11.6 minutes, 2.3 points and 2.8 rebounds, taking advantage of 36.6% from the field.
On June 8, 2006 was involved in an exchange with the Toronto Raptors Utah Jazz . Babby was traded along with a cash value for Kris Humphries and Robert Whaley . With Jazz, Babby played 28 games, averaged 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per game on the court.
