Succeed STAPS license: "The practice of sport is the medium of education, not the end"

Legs yes, but especially the head! STAPS to succeed it is not enough to be sporty. Still need to have a capacity of abstraction and reflection, and a good level in science.

What we learn in STAPS license
de STAPS (sciences et techniques des activités physiques et sportives). Biomechanics of the physiology through the anatomy, science occupy a place in the program STAPS (science and technology of physical and sporting activities). "This is a scientific license that covers both the life sciences and the humanities, " recalls Sylvie Faure, Head of STAPS degree from the University of Grenoble. “Cela suppose d'être capable de décrire et d'analyser chaque sport, pas seulement de l'exercer”, précise cette enseignante. Scientist, this course also has the distinction of addressing the technical aspects of the sport. "It means being able to describe and analyze every sport, not just exercise, " said the teacher. "Beyond the practical, sport is an object of study, said in turn Christine Le Scanff, responsible STAPS pathway at Paris-Sud University. For example, addressing the swimming, you study both movements, the regulation of households, educational issues of aquatic activities, etc.. "

… Les débouchés sont très divers ”, note Sylvie Faure. "By the third year degree, students choose a specialty that will take them to the management, technical, rehabilitation ... The opportunities are very diverse , "says Sylvie Faure. "We must anticipate that the professional project is built over the years. By identifying the many opportunities fork or specialization, pro license pro master, "said Christine Le Scanff.

Manon, 22 YEARS IN SEARCH M2 STAPS PHYSICAL PRACTICES AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES At Orsay

"I was pleasantly surprised by the multidisciplinary approach in the sector"

What surprised you the most?
"I came with a lot of prejudice, especially with the fear that the program is focused on the sport. And in fact, I was pleasantly surprised by the multidisciplinary of the industry. Biomechanics of the physiology to psychology, it covers everything that is related to human movement. I do not expect either to address topics and society, such as doping or elderly dependency. It was also an opportunity to work on certain diseases without using medicine box. "

What are your tips for success?
"The biggest trap is to arrive STAPS by saying we're going to play sports. There are many theoretical courses, such as physics, to understand basic motor skills. This requires regular work and thoroughly enjoy courses TD [tutorials] to stay at these science subjects. I advise to use tutoring. I myself am a tutor and I can see how useful this is to be assisted in its organization but also for moral support. "

From Yahoo Health: /
Chocolate milk keeps your abs flat. A glass of skim chocolate milk delivers a great combo of carbs and protein, helping you recover after a workout. Athletes who drank it post-workout had lower levels of muscle damage after four days of intense exercising than those who guzzled water or other recovery drinks, according to findings presented at the American College of Sports Medicine meeting in Seattle. That translates to less soreness and fatigue, so you can get back to the gym and those tummy-toning planks sooner. Simply stir 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder or syrup that has less than 20 g sugar into your milk and sip

    • I think the program and courses will help you stand out to a staff shuffling through application papers all day. As long as you can get related APs like bio, chem, phys then you should be fine.
